Bullet Business caught up with Juan De Pedro, manager of Spanish online bingo site QueBingo, and speaker at this years 4th Annual Online Bingo Summit, who said the Spanish market has evolved dramatically in the last 12 months, and that an increasing number of bingo fans are enjoying the freedom to play bingo online from the comfort of their own homes.
“Most of the early pioneer online bingo sites in the Spanish market were just translations of the UK/US sites - sometimes very bad translations. However, since then some of the new ones are specifically designed for the Spanish market. From my point of view it is absolutely fundamental to localise new bingo sites. You must be able to provide transactions in the local currency, you must have everything (copy, banners, chat room, terms and conditions etc.) in the local language not just translations and you must have a native speaker writing all the copy for you. You must also have chat hosts chatting in the bingo chat rooms in the local language,” De Pedro told Bullet Business.
Bullet Business asked “What do you think is critical in coming up with most entertaining and rewarding online bingo offering today?”
“Some of the bingo sites that appeared last year in the Spanish market are already doing these things, so clearly they have more quality. If you look at them from a Spanish player's point of view, they are clearly superior to the ‘translated’ sites.”
De Pedro shared his viewpoint regarding trends and online bingo as a product in Spain saying that the Spanish market is no different from the rest of the world when it comes to online bingo, “the players have to be entertained.”
Juan De Pedro said that entertainment is a huge factor when it comes to online bingo. Simply offering a big prize isn't enough, as players need to feel that they are having a good time. If this essential element is lacking the likelyhood is that bingo players won't stay for long at a bingo site, and probably won't visit again.
“So from my point of view, new offers and bingo promotions should balance between the entertainment value that the players perceive, and the prizes that they are getting. It is important for them to have the feeling of winning, so any promotion should have more than one winner to ensure that any given player can win a prize more frequently.”
One of De Pedro's most critical comments about the Spanish online bingo market concerns the CM's: “Some Spanish operators don't seem to understand the importance of chat moderators.”
“I believe that to increase the entertainment value of an online bingo site the most important tools are the CM's in the chat room. It is vital to have a good team of CM's on your bingo site to avoid losing customers to your competitors.”
